In the original OZ book, Dorothy's magic shoes are in fact Silver, Not red. For our true-to-the-book production I made these babies for Dorothy.

@charmed1115 The silver shoes were given to Nessarose (Witch of the East) by her father. They had no powers or special abilities like they did in the Wizard of Oz book. It wasn't until later that Elphaba (The Witch of the West and Nessarose's sister) enchanted the silver shoes which in turn changed them into the ruby slippers, also giving them a magical power. In Wicked, the silver shoes are nothing but a sparkly pair of pumps. The Ruby slippers are the magical shoes.
