@DuffMan6I7 Sounding rockets do not approach orbital speeds. All the items you see ejected from these rockets eventually re-enter the atmosphere. They do not get into an orbital trajectory and stay there =D

@stalkingalizee How tall? I'm horrible at length. I think about 60 feet for a 4 stage. 20 feet for single stage. How high? Depends on payload and motors. Most go about 300km with 2 stages and ~800lbs. I was lucky enough to work on the current record holder...1456.7km if I remember correctly. That was ~ 200lb payload on 4 stages. Hobbiest dream: well, paid the bills for 9 years...:-)

@puppynamedmoleson100 This footage is from Wallops Flight Facility and White Sand Missile Range. I've also launched Sounding Rockets from Alaska, Norway, and Kwajalein. Other launch sites (not used much by US) are Sweden, Canada, and Peru.

how tall are these rockets? how high do they go? Seems like a hobbiest dream
I saw four or five of drums with open lids maybe ashes from died people in space

@MrJohn1966elliott
lol, no dead people, just re-entry experiments.

looks like we need a more efficient way of depositing instruments into our orbit, there's a lot of trash floating up there that serves no purpose. cool video tho!

@DuffMan6I7
It all comes back down.
Most of this exoatmospheric footage is re-entry experiments, which are recovered since everything is ballistic.
