The construction and opening of the 1988 World Expo held in Brisbane.

This video was lifted from the Expo '88 souvenir tape "Expo Magic" by Crown Studios.

Have a look at how the South Bank looked before the parklands were built!

This video has been uploaded for nostalgia purposes. If anyone has a problem with it being up, please message me.

  • Being born in Brisbane in Jan 1989, I just missed out on 'visiting' Expo 88. The skyline shots in this video are a great bookmark in time, showing the huge amount of development taking place in this city in 20 years.

  • So true mate... thanks for your comment. I was only one year old when I went to Expo '88, so I know how you feel!

  • Hi all I was 12 and I remember World Expo Park the most as I often went there even after Expo finished. We should have another Expo, but lets not have Bligh and her people do it or they will make a mess of it like everything else.

  • I went there when I was 12 and it was awesome. I didn't go in the Australia pavilion because the line up was huge. Expo created Southbank pretty much.

  • I went to this when I was five!

  • @Brizman101 Your welcome mate. He wouldn't be any relation to a Kevin Proctor would he?

  • This clip has very special meaning to me as it shows my dad, John William Proctor @ 15 sec walking into the clip. RIP He is responsible for pretty well all the major construction jobs around Brisbane. Thanks so much Brisrangakid.
