The Ci1 Easy Rougher is a carbide insert woodturning tool that addresses fatigue, safety, and efficiency like no other type of tool on the market. It is designed to safely and effortlessly remove 95% of material for any woodturning process without the need for sharpening.

The Ci1 tool bar is CNC machined from solid stainless steel bar stock and is 11" overall length. It is turned down to a ½" diameter by 2 ½" long to receive your handle. The same Ci1 accepts either the square or crowned insert style. Having both inserts will give you the most versatility.

Just bought it! Plus the beautiful handle! The Ci1 tool is even more awesome than I expected!. I have never turned

before and am making all types of beautiful turnings ! Start to finish with

only the C1 and sand paper! You have cut the learning curve on turning almost

straight.Even my 11year old makes swords,it is so easy and safe.The shaving guard works great too.Plus with the carbide no sharpening,yahoo! Thanks again and look forward to more tools! Jeff

I can see other applications for this tool, other than roughing. I plan to use it as a side scraper, especially for flat bottomed boxes/bowls. It will also rough out spindles and should also be very useful in starting some of the common spindle cuts. Craig has put together a great product which I will begin to use first in my arsenal. Everything you saw in the video was true. Craig, you did good. Good luck in your business endeavor. Keep up the quality work!

The best part about my experience was the lack of hand fatigue after roughing. I was able to cut cleaner and apply less pressure with a better end result. This fact brings this tool into a whole new realm, for use by people that are physically challenged.  I honestly think that this tool will be able to help some of those folks get back into woodturning, especially those that have arthritis and other like disabilities. I would not hesitate recommending this product to any of my patients.

Then I started using the tool to make sweeping roughing cuts (about 1/8" deep) from one said to the other, back and forth without pausing. I did experience a few catches, but I attribute that to my over agressiveness and lack of experience with this tool. I soon corrected the angle and was able to accomplish completely roughing out the blank in about 10 minutes. The smoothness of the roughing cut tremendously reduced my outside sanding time.

got a chance to "test drive" it about an hour ago. I found a piece of Oregon Myrtlewood that had been drying since May 2006 and on the pin meter registered a 6% moisture content. It was trapezoid shaped so that made it more of an interesting test subject. I took plunging cuts toward center line with wood chips streaming off the cutting edge. SHARP!!! Minimal tearout. Upon stopping the lathe I noticed that not only was the leading edge smooth, but the sidewall was just as smooth.

I was very impressed from the moment I opened the package. The tool is perfectly milled from 1/2" stainless bar stock and the carbide insert fits snugly into it's seat held on with a durable set screw. The Ci1 logo is also engraved into the tool shaft and the tang is milled round with a flat spot to fit into the 1/2" recess of your handle. The tool itself is a work of art. Craig was very meticulous with its design. And the price, just under $100, is amazing.
