Well, the days of MTA Long Island Bus are coming to an end. As you can see, the MTA logos have been taped over on this bus, and I only managed to see a few buses today that did not have the MTA and Quality Control Bus depot stickers taped over. On another Orion V I took from Roosevelt Field to Mineola on the N24 (#1635), there were ads inside for NICE (Nassau Inter-County Express), the privately-operated service that will take over LI Bus in just two days on January 1, 2012.

  • Privatization should be better.

  • @HVACBOY100 Heck no, with the amount the county is paying the private operator. MTA has been running the buses in Nassau County for a long time, and it should stay that way. Service is only bad now because so many drivers are quitting / retiring due to the privatization and therefore runs don't go out. If the county just paid the MTA the fair price they asked for to continue running the buses, then service would be normal right now.

  • @calleyne90 Oh i see they are that efficient, less polluting and reliable. Thanks for the response.

  • @ih8thyssenkrupp Are those CNG bus efficient compared to diesel fed buses? How long have they been using it there?

  • @ih8thyssenkrupp Also fare will go up when privatized.
