  • You dont have to YELL to make let everyone know they are out. I just yell:

Dead player, let them up.. works fine instead of running to each individual player and yelling in there ears

DEAD PLAY RIGHT OVER THERE lol

  • @MatrixPaintball Thanks for commenting, but I couldn't disagree with u more. We can't always get to players when they get hit. It's a large field & we can't be everywhere all at once. Yelling when u ref paintball is absolutly a necessity. To the degree that we don't keep people that can't be vocal. We dont hav a lot of complaints, but the #1 is getting overshot. To avoid overshooting players need to know who's in and who's dead w/ as little guessing as possible.

  • @bigpearlpaintball exactly. i was just being a smart ass :D but when i ref i yell loud enough so everyone on the field hears me, then i run to the dead player and raise my hand so he doesnt get over shot. Honestly it's the ref's job to take cover for another dead player walking off the field. Especially in Airball

  • @MatrixPaintball Some people really think refs shouldn't be vocal, like it's giving away that someone's dead. We get some pretty stupid people commenting at times.

  • @bigpearlpaintball the way I ref and been reffing the past 6 months is that if I see that a player is hit, I point at the player and yell he or she is out but most of the time the player is honest and going to every player isn't necessary since only the people around or near the dead player needs to know

  • @bigpearlpaintball Refs have to be vocal.

  • This was somewhat helpful since I'll be a new ref at my local field on march 19th

  • about the eyes thing. that's why I always wear my mirrored lens while I ref. allows me to watch someone closely in an important instance without anyone knowing where I am looking at all. This is a great vid for new refs, even a nice touch up for us experienced refs. thank you for the post!

  • @MPBEric OK I understand were ur coming from. At a professional paintball field you're asking for trouble if you don't let everyone know that a player has been eliminated. Players would get over shot like crazy if we didn't annouce that they're out. Most player, evern experienced players, don't call out nearly loud enough for often enough. Avoiding overkill is part of a refs job. Many players intentionally overshoot oppossing players & their excuse is "I didn't know they were out".

  • @bigpearlpaintball I see your point, and if it was a rental player, or a rental game, I totally agree. But if it's a bunch of experienced players, I think it's their responsebility to call them self out in a way that it's clear to everyone that they are out. In a scenario game for example, this could in extreme cases win or loose a game.
