  • I think Panasonic is the over-all winner.

The 'light streaks' are a mess - but I think one can avoid these side effects by caring for concerning shots. May be not easy but one may learn ;-) .

So I purchased the Panasonic device. It's easy to carry around in a shirt pocket. That's why i bought it. My camcorders are too awkwardly shaped.

    Thanks for your test.

    Best regards from Germany,

    Manfred

  • Which one has a wider angle?

  • @HALandTHE9000s LUMIX is way better now

  • The light streaks ('Blooming' as it is called) is caused by the use of CCD sensors. Most CCD deviced suffer from it one way or an other. I personally don't mind so much. I bought a TZ10 because I love the crisp and crystal clear image it produces and the awesome image stabilization. Just take a look at the GNYBerlin channel. She uses a TZ10 and her videos look stunning. Also the CCD doesn't have a rolling shutter and my DSLR does and I really hate that effect.

  • Dear Mikesmultimedia, is it possible to change the white balance in sony hx5 in movie mode? the sky look greener compared to blue sky in tz10 .. hope to hear your answer soon ..

  • @LoiLoScope the problem about the flares on the tz10 is cuz of night shots, they just look bad..

  • i hate 'light streaks' !!!

  • This is a deceptive comparison because the HX5 is zoomed more than the ZS7, putting the HX5 much closer to its design limits than the ZS7. Having used both cameras for a couple days each, the ZS7 has a significantly bigger zoom, but the HX5 blows it away in speed of focus and adjusting to dynamic light conditions (like panning by streetlights at night).

On bright sunny days the ZS7 really shines (other than the sun streaks), but I'd take the HX5 for handling more challenging scenes.

  • @LoiLoScope Sony Cuber Shot is better, i think

  • @danielscissorhands

if you want a camera to take videos, then buy a camcoder!

  • Crazy! Try to cross your eyes and overlap the images. You get a 3D video. Awesome...
