The "Australian Airlines" that operated to Osaka etc was not the same entity as depicted in this add... rather a Qantas relaunch of the name with discount fares aimed at the Asian market (the aircraft, which were Boeing 767s) were painted in Aboriginal Art designs. Subsequently Qantas launched Jetstar and eventually they filled this niche in the market. Australian Airlines (pre 1993) only operated Airbus A300s and 737-300/400s in the livery depicted in this add.
my only experience with them.... We went down the runway only to have an announcement that we have to go back because there was not enough fuel.
