Within days of the earthquake the most phenomenal private airlift of Doctors, medicine and aid workers took place. Rescue workers and doctors found it imposible to get into Haiti via Port Au Prince with many aid flights unable to land. A little known airfield in the town of Jacmel was turned into a vital airport for aid workers. Within days it became the largest airport operation for bringing in doctors and rescue workers covering up to 2/3rds of the affected disaster zone. Towns and Cities that had no emergency medical workers had doctors, field hospitals and clinics set up from the volunteers that had arrived in Jacmel Haiti.
