A tribute to the expert arranger-composer Chappie Willet, made possible by the hip musicologist John Wriggle -- recorded on March 25, 2009, Vince Giordano and the Augmented Nighthawks play Willet's arrangement of that old college classic and later Dixieland favorite "Washington and lee Swing," originally recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1937. The Nighthawks, for this occasion, were augmented: Jon-Erik Kellso, Randy Reinhart, James Zollar, tp; Jim Fryer, Vincent Gardner, tbn; Jay Brandford, Dan Block, Mark Lopeman, Andy Stein, reeds; Peter Yarin, p; Ken Salvo, b/g; Vince Giordano, bass; Rob Garcia, d / perc; Daryl Sherman, Marion Cowings, voc.
