Buick brings its new 2005 LaCrosse into a heated midsize sedan fray this year, and with competition from Ford's new Five Hundred, Chrysler's 300, and Mercury's Montego (not to mention the venerable Honda Accord and Toyota Camry), the 2005 Buick LaCrosse lands mid-pack in a strong field. If you're looking to save a few pennies, and don't mind driving a vehicle with a yester-tech engine, then you'll be satisfied with the CX and CXL. Opting for the sporty LaCrosse CXS nets a modern powerplant, ABS, traction control and a firmer suspension this is the Buick LaCrosse model that deserves a close look.

  • Listen, I own this car and its an excellent touring car because its quiet, dependable, has a smooth ride, and is responsive when needed. Its not a sport car, its a family car! Hell, if he wants to review a car with additional power, he can do a review on my other car- a 1970 AMX with a 390, 4spd and a 3.54 posi. Bottom line: Don't believe what a review said, go out and test drive the car of your choice and see for yourself if you like it or not. Nuff said.

  • The guy was being honest. Its a big sedan made for the senior citizen crowd. As such I don't expect it to be a very sharp driving car. Nice driving YES but not sharp. In fact, it would probably be pleasing to drive around town on a tree lined street at 35mph or lazily set the cruise control to 70mph on the highway. Good enough for what its designed to do though.

  • I have this car and it rocks. I want the v8 one tho.

  • I wondered why I had to put the throttle all the way to the floor almost to get out of my girlfriends really steep drive way at the top of it. It feels like I have a lot of power, but I have to put the thing down real good to access it. I bought mine with 80,000 miles on it, and it's been a pleasure to drive. I don't owe a penny on it since I was able to get it for $8500.00 from the dealer. It's more upscale than an car I've ever owned.

  • I think the styling is rather sexy and voluptuous, unlike that massive block on wheels, the 300. Not to mention the interior of the Lacrosse is far superior. Get a Lacrosse Super with the V8 and that's a much better packaged car than the 300. Not to mention 300 is a dime a dozen. Not nearly as many Lacross on the road. Also, I like the idea of column shift (it's more functional that console shift) and the split-bench seat. Better comfort and so rare these days!

  • We just bought my mother's 2005 LaCrosse as she can no longer drive. I am used to my Ford Pickup, and I prefer trucks to cars, but I will say that this car is not too bad. It seems pretty responsive in general.

One thing I will say is that I expected much better lumbar support in the driver's seat in this Buick. My 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac has MUCH better and more comfortable seats than this car. I never seem to be able to get my back completely comfortable in this car while driving.

  • Believe it or not, some people don't take much joy in driving. Some just wanna get the job done, and don't care about driving dynamics. Others have never experienced it, and just don't know what they're missing. Then there's a third crowd that puts comfort well above road handling matters.

  • Why do people want cars without response and reflexes though? I want a car to communicate what is going on while at the same time being comfortable to drive.

  • i own this car its not all that quiet, its fairly fast but overall its a nice car drives smoothly
