You can also check out my comic book End of All there.

In the first few parts of this series, we learn how to create the Marvel style from photo reference. I believe this part is necessary because once we understand the mechanics of the Marvel style, and how to create it step by step from a reference, then we can easily create it from our minds. That is, if you can draw basic hair from your mind. So you must understand basic hair mechanics. There are so many tutorials out there for that already, so I'm not sure if I should cover the basics in this series.

  • Yeah, so I haven't drawn since high school (which was more than a few minutes ago) & I'm just now getting into the idea of using PSE to draw but using the Wacom Pad is a little tougher than anticipated. I use it all the time for masks and whatever but to actually do a drawing? I have found that I end up drawing in an unwanted direction. I guess cause I'm looking at a screen as apposed to looking right at the paper. Any tips or is just a matter of retraining the brain? Thanks. Also nice vids.

  • @mrttou If you can afford it, get a Cintiq. It feels natural. But for training your mind to get used to a standard tablet, draw a bunch of dots on the screen, then connect them in random ways. This helps train the brain to work in this new way.

  • I'll have to check out American Vampire. I'm reading Y: The Last Man right now, and boy is it long.
