Takla Makan - Helm

Takla Makan is the artist name of Englishman Tony Allgood.
Tony has been producing music for nearly 28 years. His main influences are Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield and Jean Michel Jarre. However, over the years inspiration has come from many sources including the late 80s rave scene, classical works and film soundtracks. This mix and match of musical genres has come together in a style that is distinctly Tony's and won him considerable acclaim from listeners and EM critics all over the world.
He has produced five albums and the last four are available as CD-Rs from the artist's website. For a long time Takla Makan had problems finding a home on a commercial label. Many have been approached but the difficulty in tying his music down to a particular genre has scared all too many of them. Even so, Tony has been selling CD-Rs direct to the public for many years. Nowadays his music is also available through synthmusic direct.

Fizzing pulses of sound set a rather eerie scene to Helm. A slow melodic sequence quests into the unknown and a lonesome deep bass lead gives a touch of bite. A rhythm and more strident lead are added. I just closed my eyes and let the music seep into my very soul. A virtual guitar gives even more oomph. The melodies keep coming, each better than the last, creating enough euphoria to get me punching the air just to release some of the energy and excitement. I just found this video and artist, Takla Makan. I enjoyed it very much. I can almost sence the "Tangerine Dream" influence in this track. Thanks for posting. Now I'm going down to the record store and look for his CD.
