Nice fish!!!!!!! What were ya using? I caught my very first musky a couple days ago, 15 pounds, 40 inches. I was fishing for smallmouth, and they are rare to catch on that river, and after I caught the fish, I decided I wanted to go musky fishing sometime. I know it takes LOTS of patience.
You need to relax a man- that fish was strong enough to keep itself righted. In October, these big girls recover a lot faster than the warm waters of July and August. If shes kicking her tail and keeping herself righted, she'll be fine... take your jealousy somewhere else, nice fish fellas...
Kinda harsh guys...... but you're entitled to your opinions. We do the best we know how to when it comes to handling fish that big (44 pounds by the formula). We went back up wind with the spot light and she was gone. I think the fish was fine.
make sure it lives next time.. just putting them in the water doesnt mean they will get oxygen through their gills....start the motor up and drive nice and slow while holding the fish in the head first in the direction you are travelling...make sure the next one doesnt die you fool...put down the camera
