  • @veilsidei you can use either, but I guarantee your not going 5k miles on regular oil, you probably doing the oil in proper intervals (and I give you props). I personally change my oil when I notice a color change. Sometimes I get 5k out of my synthetic other times I only get 1.5k out of it. Black oil is bad oil :P

  • do these modern honda engines still have the lma's in them. i know on the b series alot of people got the prelude spring loaded lmas and filed them down to fit in a b16 or the b18.

  • Sounds like the injectors, faint ticking maybe....?

  • im not sure what they cost.. but even honda says not to use synthetic.. i track my car 4 times a month * reving my F22C1 at 9500RPMs* with non synthetic for over 30k miles and have had no problems what so ever.. compression numbers are all perfect. you choose what you want to do but im telling you non synthetic is what your suppose to use.

  • For some reason i like the synthetic motor oil. i am used to running my motor at high RPMs Even during daily driving. i feel that it will protect my motor parts better. What does it cost for a new TCT?? can the old one be fixed?

  • well if you keep using it your eventually going to go through another TCT... why dont you save $20 on each oil change and use non synthetic..

  • what if i was to have the TCT replaced?? would that allow me to run fully synthetic motor oil? what could happen if i keep running 10-30w fully synthetic motor oil??? is it really that big of an issue? another thing is if i keep running 10-30w synthetic motor oil i could always use an motor oil stabilizer one such as Lucas oil stabilizer to help with dry starts?? would that help?

  • so if you are hearing the ticking at startup and goes away with revs.. its your tensioner. i use castrol 10-40W non synthetic.. im running a 2.2 in my AP1 so i have the same motor you do..

  • yes i am using synthetic motor oil. Mobil 1 10-30 full synthetic. well what am i subpost to do now?>???? stop using synthetic oils and go back to oem???

  • like said below get your time chain tensioner checked.. by any chance are you using synthetic oil as that destroys the tensioners
