Somali & Ethiopia clash spills into Kenya

Tension has been high in Mandera East in the towns bordering Ethiopia and Somalia. Through out the day, there has been fierce fighting between Somalia's Al- Shabaab militia group and Ethiopian troops. Authorities say enough security has been deployed but area residents fear for their safety.

@DEM2600 So true. It's almost unimaginable that a 'guest' would insult you in your own house. Not to mention the fact that they are essentially exporting their culture(which is what's responsible for the chaos in their country) to my country due to the large numbers of somali somalis resident here. Though the figure given by somalisoulja is ridiculous. Fifth or sixth largest is more plausible(including the refugee population)

@Kayse Many Bantus in modern somalia are actually indigenous. I'm referring to the bajunis who are a Swahili speaking group in southern somalia. They were a part of the ancient Swahili states living along the eastern coast of Africa.

Those Bantus that are descendants of slaves had forbears that were taken there by the arabs to work the farmland....or perhaps just escaped while in transit to arabia.

You should also know the somalis were enslaved too.

@Kayse The notion that Somalis were slave holders(of large numbers of bantus) is just ridiculous. Somalis just don't have the physical attributes to overwhelm Bantus....especially back in the day when they fought with swords, spears/pikes/javelins and arrows. The Arabs were responsible for most of the slave trade in E.Africa. Some of their slaves were prisoners of war between groups further inland. Others may have been direct captives, though much later(17th century +) when the arabs had guns.
