Actually it's "Sarge Easter" (two words) in honor of the Pro Bowler of yore who developed it.
Interestingly enough, I've started using a similar grip style, even though my balls are drilled fingertip. What I do is insert ring finger ** PAST ** the first knuckle (almost like a "semi-fingertip") while keeping middle finger @ the first knuckle. This allows me to "rotate" the hand in the grip so the thumb is very comfortable, while still allowing the ball to rest in the hand.
its called a sargester (sar-GEES-ter) grip. it puts the ring finger hole at a conventional depth and span length, which allows you to put the finger in to the second knuckle like a house ball. its a lyout for guys with too many revs. like rob smith, he uses it to keep his revs down on drier patterns.
Why do you wave your arm like that?

@ecosnipers your 100% wrong, the sarge easter grip help takes hand out of the ball, good try though.

My bowling alley has the same panels above the pins! (With the color pattern.)
That surprised me...
