www.markspt.co.uk. In the gym, people often use the machines too much. Usually you are wasting time on these pieces of kit. I'll give a brief run through of those worth using and those that aren't.

  • I don't mean to disagree, But i was weight lifting for a year got mediocre results, I got a Weider home gym and found when I added this to my routine, I could pile on a lot more weight than with dumbbells and had fantastic results, I've really grown. How can you say their useless when these results prove them a worthy way to build muscle.

  • @RavenfaceBand Hey! Chances are you used your home setup more than the DB's. Fixed machines are poor for posture and supporting muscles, but any resistance if done consistenly will build muscle. My point was from the professional stance of not functional, and free moving. Thanks for post tho!

  • KCorry - Certainly intensity is the key for working out effectively. But equally effective is exercise selection, which is what this video is about.

As for your comparison I'd go for squats everytime. I'm sure you'll agree you will be using more muscles, and functionally which is they key, when squatting over leg press. We're talking everyday training here...not just Mentzer Bodybuilding!

Agreed a lot of PT's are second and 3rd rate, but you can't pigeon hole all of us without knowing us!

  • ARE U BEEING SERIOUS you are a personal trainner and u think the smith machine is a waste of timee haha u know nothing i wonder why ronnie coleman and jay cutler use the smith machine u epic FAIL lol

  • Oh dear.

    Thanks for viewing my vid.

Coleman and Cutler? Oh yeah...."jacked up" bodybuilders, not worried about functional training....

There's a slight difference between bodybuilders and Personal Training my friend, but I see you like to troll, so you wouldn't understand - I also notice you use the Leg Extension machine (on your channel)....really it says it all.

Stop trolling mine and other peoples channels and do some reading and research - you may just learn something... thks for popping by

  • good effort! very informative

  • Cheers!

  • @kcory112233 you cant compare if intensity isnt the same,it goes without saying that he means all else being equal, the squat is better by far

  • First of all, one's results are dictated not so much by their exercise selection (squats vs. leg press) but primarly by the intensity of their effort that they put forth training. First of all, everyone nowadays is a personal trainer and virtually none of them tell you to train hard and not overtrain. Compare two things: 1 set of high intensity leg press vs. 1 set of moderate intensity squats. Guess which is more productive?

  • don't worry about the haters Mark! Let them waste time with their training and those who 'get it' will follow and notice their results go through the roof!
