The iconic Jurassic predator Allosaurus runs to kill some hapless sauropodlets for lunch, but encounters the extremely dangerous herbivore, Stegosaurus. The two are engaged in a battle...Who will win? Who will back out? Will this be a bloody deathmatch? It's a battle you must see...Jaws versus Thagomizer!

  • Stegosaurus had keratin on its plates, so it couldn't cool down OR flush blood into them.

  • to gckbowers411 : The keratin would be at the surface of the skin of Stegosaurus. The keratin wouldn't prevent heat from coming out of its body since the main purpose of keratin is to block water from coming in and out of the body through the skin.

The plates of Stegosaurus has a lot of spaces and caverns inside. The most probable reason is that in vivo it contained a network of blood vessels.

  • Well, that's what I heard in Thomas Holtz Jr.'s book, which was from 2007.

  • to gckbowers411 : If that's so, then that's based from his opinion. Maybe he hadn't seen a real stegosaurus plate yet. I say don't instantly believe in people's words just because they are notable scientists or they made a publicized book. Search the answers for yourself.

    Stegosaurus: ...tail.

  • @Kenany9 Actually if I may most Allosauruses were 8-9 metres long. There was the proposed 12m goes to Epanterias but they reckon its a big version of Allosaurus. You heard of Austrolevnator Wintonesis before though? Its the Australian version of an Allosaurid!
