I like this lady. She showed the elegancy of traditional Chinese women. However, what she said was trash.

My favorite quote: "China does not have the culture of telling other countries what to do."

Why do you see the fact that China didn't put pressure on the Burmese Junta to accept international aid as a good thing? They were by far in the strongest and most influential position to persuade the Junta to do so. Over 130,000 are estimated dead from Cyclone Nargis. This incredibly high death toll could have been prevented had aid been accepted. Apathy is an enabling step for tyranny. The West certainly has it's own record of apathy - Somalia, Zimbabwe, Congo. But do two wrongs make a right?

My point is, your looking at this as 'us and them'. Justifying your own governments inaction against Western governments examples of Apathy. If you look at it from outside the prism of your own nationality and unquestioned patriotism, you'll see both are wrong, and essentially at its root protecting commercial interests of the few, at the cost of humanitarianism.

I lived over in Beijing for a year in 2007, and can see how China's become so tunneled visioned by economic growth, their blind to the inequalities and injustices capitalism has created. Mix that with an unaccountable authoritarian dictatorship, and it creates suffering on an even greater scale.

You watch, when China's economic growth dwindles because of the global recession, that tunnel vision will dissipate and your eye's will be opened to what capitalism's left you with, and you won't like what you see.
