Welcome to the second episode of The Car Information Show.
This week we test 3 vehicles from 3 different emission standard categories. First: Euro Standard 2, Second: Euro Standard 3 and finally a Euro Standard 4 using New Zealand Government sanctified emission testing equipment, and the results are shocking!!!
Also on the show, we interview Peter Ball a mechanic in the Auckland area who has 30 years' experience in the industry and we discover his comments follow what the NZTA has made fact in their 2010 Annual NZ Fleet Statistics Report, and that is, people in NZ are holding onto their cars for much longer, the age of the NZ Light Fleet is getting older and by International Standards we have "very old cars".
This is not only happening, but the Government is telling us it is happening, and now they're going to charge us more for our cars, if you don't sign the 2011 Emission Rule Petition -- Uncut and you're a lower or middle income earner, then you have just cost yourself thousands of your own hard earned dollars, by being passive and not signing the petition.
It does affect you, it affects us all.

Please go to the Petition and sign, for all New Zealand.

Thanks,

Chris Jellie

  • Best car show I've seen in a long time! When's the next one?

  • @bbqfundraiser Thanks for your comments. We are working on a series we hope to release within the next few months. Subscribe to this channel for updates.

  • Best Car Show I've seen in. Long time!

  • @bbqfundraiser Thanks,

  • Looks like the NZ gov't want to send NZ back to the age when you weren't allowed to import cars from Japan. When I first visited NZ in 1988 you had really old cars on the road consisted of a lot of Morris Minors etc. When I lived there in 1995 it completely changed and now they want to backwards again?!

  • @Eyeonasia1 YES, this is my point exactly! Thank you for your comment, you have understood the point I am trying to make and hit the nail on the head! Please pass links to the show onto every New Zealander you know. This WILL affect everybody living here, this new rule will not work, it will make the cost of living more expensive while clogging our roads with unsafe, more polluting, dilapidated old hunks of junk.

  • @mikemapperson Thank you Mike, I look forward to hearing from you. Chris.

  • Chris, if we get a trade-in that suits we'll make it available to you.

  • @mikemapperson Thank you for your comment and input Mike, it will be a big help to me in the future. I did expect the 1996 Lucino to fail; however, the fact that it had only done 78,000kms may be a contributing factor to it passing the test. I would be willing to test a 92 to 96 car that has done over 200,000kms if I had the support and access to such vehicles, if you would be willing to aid me, I think we can produce emissions tests that can have more validity and relevance to my message.

  • Chris, I feel the 3 car test did not underline your point sufficiently. The different test regimes flashed on-screen briefly, but it would have been better if the 1996 car had failed?
