This is the old over head trolly landing pad. Best I can figure the trolly shown must be for maintenance cause I don't think anyone in there right mind would pay to ride this one. Only thing is I didn't see any remnant of the actual trolly so thats a mystery, It may be out in the weeds somewhere will have to check that out when I go back to redo the video of the Space Needle.

  • This video makes me sad. We used to go there when I was a kid. :(

  • Really!! I wish I could find some video of this place when it was in operation. I didn't live here then so I never got to see it.

  • Dude where is this at?

  • Wellit's where the glass bottom boats are at. but on the other side of the water up the hill, We went back there a week or so ago but sad to say they are already preraring to raise it to the ground and turn it back into grass and trees WHAT EVER!! so they blocked it off from every direction.

There's only going to be the boats left.

Texas State University has owned it since about 95, I think there dumb for bringing it down.

  • That would be a good place to make a horror movie.

Were you trespassing there? Or can anyone just walk in there?

  • Now it's tresspassing they've blocked it all off in preperations for demolition it would appear, such a shame.

  • Yes... that is the maintenance cart. I actually built that in 1991 when I worked there. It was quite a thrill to stand on the railing of it to reach up and lube the rollers on each of the towers. My maintenance partner hated heights and I used to freak him out by rocking the cart back n forth while standing up on the rail :-) Great memories! I also painted the big white tower and built the short fence inside the alligator pen separating it in two... WHILE the big gator was in it! Much fun!

  • @mundster Search YouTube for the user rommel414 and you will see videos he took of Aquarena Springs at it's height in 1985. ^_^

  • Sad...

  • this is the place they shot the movie "piranha". which i'm watching at the moment.

  • its a vonroll type 101 skyride.pretty sad that they dont want to refurbish it.

  • Yeah me too. It was really neat. Even had a submarine you could go into and go underwater. There was even a swimming pig. :)

  • It is a shame,

    lots of possibilities there.
