@itsarubiconday lol. Milemarker is the "walmart" of off road equipment. I'm a little biased against Jeeps 'cause I've dragged enough of them out of the woods you'd think I was using them as trailers. I'd recommend to sell that milemarker and save up for a Warn and a second battery setup under the hood.

I respect that, and hear what you're saying. Good luck with it and if there's anything I can help you with, give me a shout. Regards!

@bigcmoore Free spooling is nice in our situation as it doesn't drain the battery. (We have a battery on the trailer and a connection on the truck) In this case...let 'er out in reverse! :-)

I had the same problem with my Mile-marker PEC8. The first few times using it was a pleasurable experience. However, it got so hard to frees pool where it took 3 of us to get the line out. Called Mile-marker and the tech was really helpful. It wasn't a hard fix, but you had to disassemble the gear end, wipe ALL the factory grease out of the housing, then squirt some WD40 and reassemble. I'll give MM 2 thumbs up. We've been loading 16 ft. logs out of the woods for a few years with no problem

@truck93 Yea they dont look to bright or tightly wrap, thinking this is his first time ever using a winch.
The humour? It's the fact he didn't bother to check his equipment before leaving town. People like this should stay in the city.

@dross750 Wrong again. This is the third time I had used this winch. This is just the first time I had both the winch and the camcorder during the same event. It powers out, so we weren't in any serious situation. We simply chose to pull it out the hard way to show that Mile Marker winches fail to live up to their claims. People like you should think twice before leaving comments.

Talked with a Mile Marker tech today which told me that the WD40 is ok, but evaporates...I can deal with that. The "new" fix was to use old motor oil, or low weight...like 5, in place of WD40. If you only use your winch a few times a year, it'll develop the bad free spool sooner than if you use it several times year. i am sure this holds true for any other winch out there on the market, as they have similar gearing etc I'm sure. Hope this helps.

@dmassarone1955 I got the same response. When I called them they told me they would walk me through the process. For me, its not the type of customer service/warranty response I expect after buying a $800 winch from MM. It didn't work properly right out of the box because of their wrong doing. Why am I forced to fix it? I was told I could send it back for them to fix it, but I had to pay the $135 to mail it. To me, this is not a winch company standing behind their product.

I couldn't see a close up of the winch, but if you don't correctly re spool your winch line it can bind up, that goes for any winch including Warn.
Also you could of just press reverse on the switch and the line will feed out. Very simple!
Also it may be possible the winch line was frozen, water got in from rain/snow ect and froze, which would make it hard to freespool.
Maybe you didn't have the clutch fully in freespool!

@truck93 Someone else had mentioned the power out and they are right, but we wanted to show how my winch came to me straight out of the box. The cable wasn't spooled perfectly, but it wasn't bound or kinked either. And there was no snow/ice/water in the spool. What you're seeing is my winch in freespool mode. It rerally is just that hard to pull out. Simple as that.
