since no one has commented on this video in years, lol I guess i will. this is a great exercise. I use 10-20lbs. depending on how many reps im doing and how im feeling but only once a week. i also like to extend my support arm as far down the bar as i can, i feel it exposed my obliques and serratus muscles more and i tend to get more sore. thanks for video.

I tried this today, great exercise. The longer the bar the harder.

I am a big fan too. I have heard Diesel Crew put a video on fulcrum based lifting out, one day I should just break down and buy it. A german strongman named Herman Goering(sp)used them alot.

I'm interested in starting this exercise, but I'm curious, is 2.5 lb already a heavy starting weight? I know side bends are really hard even with light weight. Do these work your core any differently than saxon side bends? Great video!
Oh hell yeah, the water spout! My grandpa showed me that like 20years ago, I seriously never thought anyone else ever did that. Thank for posting!

sorry, i guess what i meant to ask was, should this type of exercise be done with low reps or higher reps? Starting out I know light weight is used for technique, just wondering whether this exercise should be done with heavy weights to gain maximum strength.

I would recommend sticking to heavier weights/low reps. with lighter weights, people tend to zone out and just "go through the motion" i want you to focus on perfect reps, heavier weight will do more to injury proof your body.

I could sit here and explain to you how these lever lifts work using math such as inch pounds, or you could go load up a 7 ft bar with what ever you think you need and try it. Now part of this is a demo. I do not want people jumping in my working weight. Throw 15-25lbs on that other end and you may hurt yourself. Try it out, you'll love it. Saxon side bends, not a bad drill. If you want a page from saxon work the bent press.
