"You mentioned Ravensbruck in your talk," he was saying. "I was a guard in there." No, he did not remember me.

"I had to do it — I knew that. The message that God forgives has a prior condition: that we forgive those who have injured us." "But since that time," he went on, "I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me for the cruel things I did there, but I would like to hear it from your lips as well. Fraulein, ..." his hand came out, ... "will you forgive me?"

And I stood there — I whose sins had every day to be forgiven — and could not. Betsie had died in that place — could he erase her slow terrible death simply for the asking?

It could not have been many seconds that he stood there, hand held out, but to me it seemed hours as I wrestled with the most difficult thing I had ever had to do.

For I had to do it — I knew that. The message that God forgives has a prior condition: that we forgive those who have injured us. "If you do not forgive men their trespasses," Jesus says, "neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." ... [Matthew 6:14,15]

And still I stood there with the coldness clutching my heart. But forgiveness is not an emotion — I knew that too. Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart. "Jesus, help me!" I prayed silently. "I can lift my hand, I can do that much. You supply the feeling."

And so woodenly, mechanically, I thrust my hand into the one stretched out to me. And as I did, an incredible thing took place. The current started in my shoulder, raced down my arm, sprang into our joined hands. And then this healing warmth seemed to flood my whole being, bringing tears to my eyes.

"I forgive you, brother!" I cried. "With all my heart!"

For a long moment we grasped each other's hands, the former guard and the former prisoner. I had never known God's love so intensely as I did then.

I am so blessed by Corrie Ten Boom, she is probably the person I most respect and feel has walked so intimately with our Lord. The sufferings and struggles that she went thru have so deepened her walk with the Lord so that even on the earth she was in close and constant intimacy with the Lord. In the DVD that comes with the movie "The hiding place" she shares her insights and experiences with the Lord and her constant communication with Him. I pray always that my walk with Him would go as deeply

I just love this woman, and what an example she was during her hardest times. I mean she was not perfect, she got angry at what was happening, but the Lord brought her through. Thank you so much for posting this. It's a 5star and on my playlist for sure.

Cory ten boom i once said with the faith of a mustard seed you can say to a maontoun throw yourself into the sea and it would be done, and i tell you, it would. Hear is another secreat when i was born again and begotten i suffered somethings and jews where on my heart cause i found faith and it was graiter than that of a mustard seed i found enough to shift and shake the heavens and it came from one jew who died in the gas chamber and the crys of a jew lady who ahout loudest. Sorry, but these present occupants of Israel are not the true Israelites but are Assyrians who occupy the land driving God's people out according to the word of the Lord by Isaiah (Isa 29: 1-4; Isa 10: 11-15).

The Lord is coming to gather his people and they will not be a bunch of heathens who fight their own battles with their own munition & intelligence. More especially, will not go about building a heathen temple to crucify afresh the Son of God. The Temple is the Lord (Revelation 21: 22).

This is what true beauty looks like in the end- What an overcomer and wonderful gift this woman is to us even now though she is gone... How refreshing... There are so many voices out there it gets a little confusing sometimes, but His sheep know his voice and rejoice at the sound of it. It's so good to belong to the family of God and have elders like Corrie inspire and encourage us.
