Weighing big fish, like pike, muskie, and lakers, by hanging them in a vertical fashion to weight them as you did is very hard on their internal organs. Since they live life in a constant horizontal state underwater this is an unnatural position for them to be in, especially out of the water where no bouency exists. Many guys do this, but you're hurting them even though they appear to swim off fine. The way to weigh them is by using a cradle instead of a net and weigh the fish with the cradle.
