It was Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs in 2006 for the Lakers and Suns. The Lakers were expected to miss the playoffs before the season. But, carrying the team on his shoulders, Kobe Bryant willed the Lakers singlehandedly to the playoffs and to the 7th seed, holding numerous memorable moments during the season including an 81 point game. He rightfully deserved the MVP that year. But seeing how the hype for MVP was mostly on Steve Nash, Lebron James, and Dirk Nowitzki, he took it upon himself to nearly upset the Suns in the 7 games series.

In Game 2, Kobe made 3 of his first 4 shots, including 2 early assists. Then he led his team to an important 2nd quarter run that put LA up by 15 at the half, showing his passing ability.

The Suns though went on a 3 point shooting barrage in the 2nd half cutting the lead to 7. That set the stage for one of the great playoff dunks of NBA history. Off of a Luke Walton miss, Lamar Odom grabbed the offensive rebound, gave it to a slashing Kobe Bryant, who had the perfect timing. Then he timed his jump perfectly to avoid an offensive foul on Nash for a posterization, showing who was the real MVP. Or showing that Nash was MVP, but that he was most viciously posterized. That crucial dunk gave LA a win to tie the series at 1 game apart.

  • no man timin got nothin to do with gettin an ofensive foul or defensive foul called, it all depends on how the ref sees it as and he makes the call, it also depends on the defenders position so timin had nothin to do with the fact he got a defensive foul as u can see the ref made the signal for ofensive foul when he blew the whisle

  • No, because if he arrives there late, then Nash would have been established and Kobe would've gotten called for an offensive foul.

  • but nash did get there b4 kobe did, he set his feet corecty, and the ref still signals offensive b4 he changes his call and signals blockin foul so it was all on the ref

  • If you're talking about Joey Crawford, he counted the basket. If he signals offensive, that means he crosses his arms and swings it out.

  • @nicksemenas sorry I couldn't hear you through my wool overcoat, turtleneck and pipe.

  • @geezmaynard wow... what a mature statement

  • well kobe is my man but the mvp could have gone both way and i think the fact that kobe lost the series decided the mvp race

  • @Slash417 Clearly OBVIOUS that you have never seen Steve Nash play.

  • stfu about the dunk...we all know wat a charge is...and we all know why that basket was counted

  • @Slash417 Only if we had a fucking team right. We wasted a lot of great basketball with Kwame brown and Smush Park......What could of been right.

  • Damn that dunk was nasty

  • Kobe is the best!!!!!

  • Kobe should go back to doing what He knows best. Rape. One player isn't a team. The lakers are the whores of the NBA. It's funny LA is known for a town of rich pompous fonnies and thier basketball team is the same.
