So, basically, I just love this pony. We're working on getting her in super shape for show season, so here is our other lesson this week at Equispirit! Please excuse the couple spots where I got off balance ;-D

  • hey thanks but i sold him lol.

  • Your welcome!

  • First show him around with out you on him then calmly get on him and walk him around then trot and try to gallop him without freaking and give him treats for being good that will help!

  • hmm, ok i will try t4hat but i got a new horse, so i was using dan cause i didnt have a jumper. but i got a 5 year old off the track tb very laid back about 18hh's and dark bay. will do 3/1 day eventing and jumping!! so yeah

  • It's all about just finding the moment where he takes advantage and finds the spot to run out of, and doing what you can to avoid getting in that spot again. You could also prop extra poles off the standards, creating the idea of a chute. I hope that helps!

  • You're welcome :-) I really think that just getting horses out and exposed to places regularly is great for them to get used to traveling to show. Plus, once you get to shows he'll be a lot calmer, a great thing for riders who get nervous once they get to shows.

As for running out, I'd suggest just keeping him as straight as he can and ride him forward to every single stride before the jump. Then if he still continues, ride him a little stronger and in the opposite direction of where he ducks
