The extended edition version of when Gandalf arrives at the Shire for Bilbo's birthday. (HD Blu-ray)

A beautiful scene, and the rolling green hills of the Shire are so soothing. Just wonderful.

  • When accused of anything I always reply with "If you're referring to the incident with the dragon I was barely involved.

This whole scene is probably my favorite scene in the whole trilogy. It's so sweet and innocent and makes me wish Life was like that instead of it being more like Isengard or Mordor.

  • "A wizard is never late, Frodo Ballings, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to".

Wow the arrogance wizards have then

  • When Gandalf gazes upon Hobbiton and the soundtrack kicks in, I'm at absolute tranquility.

  • I just noticed something, Gandalf's hat is blue!

  • Watching this just brings makes me so nostalgic

  • @TheAngelgirl1992 Hey, it's the perfect excuse! It's save my ass a couple of times before lol!

  • @AtCw593 you'll enjoy them

  • @emw1994 I believe you on that. I'm pretty embarrassed that I haven't read the books in their entirety (just parts of them). gotta do that sometime

  • @AtCw593 the interesting thing about the extended versions is that there are several things where you have to have read the lotr and maybe some of tolkiens other writings to understand

  • The weird thing about the fellowship's extended version is that there were not many scenes that they cut out entirely - just little bits and pieces from several scenes, making the scenes in the extended version a lot different than the theatrical version. Since I'm used to the theatrical version of this movie, it's hard to watch the extended one, oddly.

Still, the extended versions for the other two are much better. The 2nd version is much, MUCH better extended than not.
