A time lapse video of the SSL j9080 console being remove and our new Euphonix system 5 being installed. This console has completely changed the way we work, and we can't wait for more of our clients to experience the same things we have. The SSL was a great piece of gear, but modern day work flow demands modern solutions, and Euphonix have provided that and so much more in this console. A digital console with a sound all its own.
The system-5 is an all digital mixing console with 120 audio channels, 48 analog and 48 digital io's to outboard gear, 24 group busses, 12 mix busses, and an incredible sound. It can also run as a full pro-tools control surface (at the same time!)
Enjoy the footage. Music is by Endway, a band we are producing and working with. Check them out at www.endway.com
@MediaGuru4U Lastly, Gear list is on our site but it includes 32 channels of pre amps, including an 8 channel neve box with summing that has four Neve 1073s, two 1084s, and 2 BAE 1023s, all with eqs, other press include Grace, Chandler, UA, Avalons...we have original LA2As, 1176s, 4 pultecs...stereo comps include thermionic culture phoenix, Dramastic Obsidian, api 2500, vintech 609, TC system 6 mastering suite..and more!

@MediaGuru4U Our setup starting next month with PT 10HDX install: two apogee AD-16x's for tracking to Pro-tools, two HD-Madi I/O's for 128 AUDIO channels to the console from pro-tools, 3 SSL alpha-links for all I/O from the console to all outboard gear in the room. The room is clocked by an Antelope OCX with their Isochrome Atomic 10m!

@MediaGuru4U Im' confused at your comment. The console has tons of I/O. It is NOT just a control surface. Our current 6 card system has 350+ audio channels on it. 48 audio group busses, 32 aux sends, 24 stereo busses....It's digital audio channels but they are audio channels with their own characteristics and a much higher floating point than working in the box or on a control surface. Jus because the I/O on the board is digital doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Just wondering: you mentioned that the S5 sounded great. How? This board has absolutely NO audio I/O. It's just a big controller. What A/D-D/A are you guys using? I am actually using the S5 with an all SSL A/D-D/A Alpha link system in place. We also use a SSL X-rack with the G series Summing buss.
@headbagger65 The duality is a decent console but doesn't hold a candle to the controlling power that the S5 gives you. The duality doesn't give you any better sonic value than the SSL x-rack.

Is that the system-5 or System 5 Fusion? cause the in the info above its says system-5 but the interview with Andrew koss says it a System 5 Fusion. ..
did you guy expand that console to the 56 faders ... and the patchnet. is it easy to use

@taintedblueNYC i read somewhere in a magazine that automation on the Duality did more than just the faders oh well. Hey this what i say as long as your mix's sound really good in the end doesn't really matter what you use. Although i like the sound of SSL's. i don't have $400,000 grand i can pull out of my ass to get one. Now if i would get anything from Euphonix i would prefer System 5 MC. i think with the System 5's are a little to much for what people need and i think there' more flexiblity

@SVIIIPsychowraith DynAudio M4's - and I want to say the 4 power amps are Brystons but I''ll confirm when I head in today. And two sets of digital crossovers running them as well. I'll get the details later.

It's a system 5 Fusion which is the same console as same full system 5 but less DSP - the full s5 can do 360+ audio channels (post, film work, etc) and ours is 116 distinct audio channels - adding one more rack of dsp cards would make it a full S5 - there are no hardware or sonic differences between them. Just dsp power.

@headbagger63 I spent a lot of time looking at the Duality...recall on the desk does NOT move aux's, eqs, compressors, etc...only faders...you have to recall the rest of the desk like you did on a Gchannel strip by channel strip...matching a diagram on a screen- for us it's the ease and flexibility you gain with the system 5 when you deal with many different engineers in a given week. Sad to say, only a small % of clients ever used more than 2 channels on the ssl.

@taintedblueNYC Well i can understand why you guys chose the console, But SSL consoles are analog consoles there's only some much you can do with it. hears the thing i don't think analog desks are obsolete SSLs have recall and From what i read the automation in the duality can automate not only the fader's but the inserts and the aux sends as well and people i know who still use analog consoles say that its not hard to mix with them
