@got2fish2 If you had it to do over, would you have more space between plants? Have you found that the seed grown vines produce and that the grapes are as good as some of the named varieties?

That's funny! The other video I watched is being taped in the background word for word!

whats the closest you can plant muscadines?

@got2fish2 do you only have black muscadines?
-
what muscadine varietys are you growing? how far apart are your plants spaced? and how long did the seedling muscadines take to fruit?
Thanks!

All of our seed grown varieties are doing super. So far the distance between is fine but could be expanded.

I am not an expert but I plant mine15 feet apart- in two years time they were touching each other. I used grow tubes the first year to excellerate growth.

Yes

I don't know the varieties. I just went by taste. Plants were 15 feet apart. About 6 weeks to get the seeds to germinate and all grew about 4 feet the first year.

Well, first of all, I am no expert. I did not "treat" the seeds and I don't even know what "cold stratify" means. I just put the seeds in potting soil and never let the soil dry out. They seemed to take a long time to germinate and when they did I let them grow in the sun to get hardened off. .

Of course the vines are dormant now and it won't be until about august that they will be ready to pick. I was surprised at how big a crop we had last year since they were pretty young vines. I am not an expert in this area. I just like gowing things we can eat and that are good for us. I have cut them back and they are ready for spring.
