As Goodwill's online shopping grows, so does its workforce. The growth allows Goodwill to serve its mission, which has always been giving work to those who typically struggle finding steady jobs.
"Folks who may have difficulty finding jobs elsewhere are learning great new skills here," said Goodwill Spokesperson Suzanne Kay-Pittman.
Michelle Buster Gouda works in Goodwill's E-Commerce department looking through jewelry donations for valuable pieces.
"The more people donate to us the more we can maximize the dollar. Then we can turn around and hire more people," said employee Michelle Buster-Gouda.
Last year when she started, only 19 people worked in the department. That number has nearly doubled thanks to an increase in donations and sales.
Just a few weeks ago Michelle found a tanzanite and diamond ring that's been appraised at $5,900. The ring was on the auction block on Friday.
All items have a starting bid of $9.99.
