This is a behind-the-scenes Brief for those of you interested in our
Mobile setup for Macword Expo coverage. We feel at home in the studio
and out of place on location, so we've done more planing for this trip
than any other. We're bringing our regular camera, the Canon XH-A1 [1] and last
year's Sanyo Xacti HD1a [2]. I want to shoot with it all week and sell
the camera and unreleased footage on ebay to cover some of the cost of
bring William, The Geek Brief Intern, out with us. William will be
shooting with the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 [3]. We'll be using a second
generation QuikPod [4], the one designed for DSLRs and camcorders. I
wish we would have gotten a couple of them, but it's too late.

xTrain.com [5] is making it possible for us to get into the Keynote.
I'll be live blogging using CoverItLive [6]. It's the same application
CruchGear.com used to live blog the Bill Gates keynote at CES. It
enables bloggers to update in real time just like in IM. I can drop
photos, polls and videos right into the session and the session can be
replayed after the Keynote ends. I'm not going to try and stream from
Ustream because that almost always doesn't work out when I'm on mobile
broadband. Neal will be shooting photos with an Eye-Fi [7] card in the
Nikon D40 [8]. The photos will be uploaded live to my Flickr account
(flickr.com/photos/calilewis [9]).

When we're shooting on the show floor, we'll be using two Lite
Panels [10]...one spot and one flood.

One of our big concerns is battery power. We picked up a couple
extra camera batteries and the guys at FastMac.com [11] are loaning us
a couple extra Macbook Pro batteries.

We have two meetup oportunities. One is at the Mac Podcaster Meetup
on Thursday the 17th, after a panel and audience discussion with Adam
Christenson [12], Dave Hamilton [13], Victor Cajiao [14], Leo Laporte
[15], Scott Bourne [16], and Ken Ray [17]. You have to have a Macworld
badge to get into that one. We'll also be having dinner at In-N-Out
Burger Wednesday at 6:00 PM. You can show up there, or if you want the
full experience, walk with us from the Moscone Center. We'll leave at
5:00 PM. Meet us at the front of the Moscone Center. It's a 3 mile
walk, so wear comfortable shoes! :) After we eat, we might walk to an
Apple Store. All the details are here [18].

My full Macworld schedule is at geekbrief.tv/macworld [19]. It'll
be constantly updated with information about where we'll be and what
we'll be doing. You can also follow me on Twitter.com/calilewis [20]
for live Macworld updates.

This episode is sponsored by [21] the Sony MDR-NC60 Headphones. You
can find out more at sony.com/headphones [22].
