i think michael moore had a point about the relatively high murder rate in the states vs canada but i never agreed with the blame he laid on charleton heston. you can ask to end gun politics as a whole and just enjoy freedoms as you like them, but to ask one guy "why is it this way or why are we like this?" and blame him for nra rallies...didn't make sense to me.
Who said anything about giving the rioters guns? I am saying the public should be able to protect themselves from not only rioters but tyrannical governments.
@batfly Just so you dont think Im a tree hugging hippy. I would love a gun, my preference would be a M4A1 of some variant and maybe a p226. ;-) Honestly, I think guns should be for the police and the army - in the UK 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. I am sure the USA are just as bad.
@batfly The riots have sweet fa to do with guns. If those people had guns, it would have been a war, not just a riot. The kids (which they were some 10-13 years old) were from bad homes and were able to deploy themselves quickly and the police were not able to act fast or hard enough to counter it. The problem is social, we have a shit society where the youth dont understand respect or hard work. Giving them guns is not going to solve that problem. social = better place, guns wouldnt exist.
@mikkyochimp the police and army are the worse!

Where Liberty dwells, there is my country.
Benjamin Franklin (1706 to 1790)
Those that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Guns are not the problem... Violent people and violent culture is the problem...
There are too many examples in history to ignore what happens when you disarm the public supposedly for their own good...
Nazi Germany benefited greatly because the citizens were unarmed... Same issue in Communist China during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
If free and peaceful people do not have the right to arms... then only the criminals and tyrants will have them.
