How to get rid of a Lizard in your apartment or House.

So there was a lizard who has been crashing in my apartment for about a week now. Every time I tried to catch it to let it go outside, he would hide under something and disappear. Tonight it crossed my dog's path ( she has set out to rid the world of pesky lizards), and although I didn't mind his presence ( unless he decided to crawl across my bed at night) I wanted him out for the sake of my doggies sanity.
