When Stephen Yellowhawk (Cheyenne River Sioux/Iroquois), a 2009 Oglala Lakota College graduate and a Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship recipient with a bachelors degree in elementary education, speaks, he radiates joy. His family and his culture are both sources of joy for Yellowhawk. But a college education at Oglala Lakota College is what helped him discover that culture so that he could provide for his family in a way that allows him to walk the path he feels he was meant to walk.
