That was spontaneous in the studio on the spot. He was talking to a woman that walked into the control room to see Ted Templeman (the producer) while they were recording. You can hear he starts "I like" and Ed accidently cuts him off. He talked about that in an interview I read from the early 80's. He talked about how they would often keep the alternate take like this and "Come on Dave, gimme a break", "Have you seen Junior's Grades" because though unplanned, often fit the song perfectly.
