On March 20th, 2009, Army Ranger 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing Ali Mansur, a known Al Qaeda operative while serving in Iraq.
Anyone who codemns a soldier for killing a terrorist has some serious issues. I said it once and I'll say it again there is never any room for Geneva today for a bunch of worthless sand nazis. A terrorist who kills any U.S. soldier is not qualified for any civil liberties if captured just an M1911 to the head or better yet an M1911 to the kneecaps and left in the middle of nowhere to rot in the sun.
@ULTRAHITLER Fair enough, and quite frankly I used to have the same opinion. But the fact of the matter is, someone who is tabbed has graduated Ranger school, therefore making them a Ranger. It's not the hardest task in the world, but historically it has had an attrition rate of about 50%. Of course, it's not that big of a deal within the infantry because most leadership is tabbed. But you also have to take into account those soldiers within other branches of the Army who take great pride in...
@mikeyadigone To be honest, it's frankly my own opinion. I understand you might not see eye to eye with that assessment. My opinion is that the delineation of responsibilities is what merits the title. It goes against a lot of Army tradition about title and prestige, but that's my view.
@ULTRAHITLER So in your opinion, the title of a U.S. Army "Ranger" only belongs to those soldiers who are in the 75th Ranger Regiment? As a brand new PL, I really hope you never tell an NCO or an officer with a Ranger tab that they're not a Ranger because they're not in a Ranger Batt.
@armyrangersgirl ROTC out of Georgetown. The battalion is pretty high speed, and there are a number of gentlemen there who definitely could be joining your husband someday (a very good number of guys, maybe 20-30% max out on APFT and are very motivated). Best of luck to you, your husband, and happy New Year!
This is just playing wrong!

In the US, police get away with killing people all the time and civilians who kill people typically get much shorter sentences.

@ULTRAHITLER having been (1) sent to Ranger school in the first place, and (2) actually graduating Ranger school, it's a big deal.
