@mymind1086 With that being said, I agree with the last part of your video about Aristotle. People in the Middle Ages believed that everything in nature reflected God and Christ.

hmmm... The thing about the maggots and frogs though is true. The people in the middle ages really thought that maggots spontaneously generated from meat. Today, we know that they come from flies laying eggs in the meat. Back then they thought they just popped up. Also, the people didn't read the Bible. They were illiterate and it it was taught in a language no one spoke. People simply had to trust that the church was right.

didn't the church killed the guy who created the printing press for printing the bible?

The fact that they're teaching kids this shit makes me rage. It's not about religion, it's a political agenda.

Dude you're totally right. I was homeschooled and had to use A Beka books. If you really want to see an even worse curriculum, look for the ACE one. It's in the form of workbooks and they are horribly brainwashing.

Although I am a Christian, I caught many of the errors that you are talking about in the section that you are talking about. This is a really bad text.
Although I will point out that the Catholic Church did not allow for the Bible to be translated into common languages, so all information was filtered through many church leaders. This church system was in part what lead to the reformation as such the Bible was in essence a "closed book" to common man.

Yes, there is no doubt that a lot of scientific work was done during that period since it is the lead in to the scientific revolution. Interestingly enough, a fair majority of work was done by eastern muslims, not western christians.
Also, as we will see in the scientific reformation (a period which I have read a lot of philosophy from), there's a lot of lip service to being christian, but I think the average scientist's belief's are deist at best.
This reading, if an acurate representation of the text book, just shows poor writting.
It should be noted that poor writting can happen in all texts. It does not necessarily represent all Christian Textbooks.
(I have not actually gone to the text to verify.)

I completely agree. The writing is terrible, the grammar makes me cry sometimes. (Way to many one sentence paragraphs...)
No one book can represent all. This is just the book/curriculum I was taught from in school. Abeka is, however, a popular curriculum used in homeschooling and private christian schools all over, so it is probably representative of a fair number of schools.
Good point about the "closed book"
