Today we are going to review part number N101 from Kuat. This is their NV platform style rack. Some of the features this bicycle rack is aluminum construction, which makes for a durable yet light weight bicycle rack. The platform design allows you to use all types of different bikes regardless of frame size and tire sizes. It uses a ratchet type of system that secures the bikes at the front wheel, holds them in place, while there is a ratcheting straps at the back that secures the rear wheels. And they are also adjustable for different lengths of bikes too. It comes standard with an easy-to-use anti-rattle system. Basically you install the rack into the hitch, go ahead and your locking pin and tighten down the handle that engages the anti-rattle system. and the platform on this bicycle rack will actually fold up towards the vehicle when it is not in use. When it is in use, you can actually tilt it back away from the vehicle, allowing you to have access to the rear of your vehicle without having to take off your bicycle rack. It comes with two locks, one for the bicycle rack that goes into the receiver hitch and also one that is part of a cable lock that provides security for the bikes while they are on the bike rack itself. And one of the best things about this bicycle rack is the built in work stand, which is great for doing simple maintenance on your bicycle. This does come in a black chrome powder coat finish. 1:11

We will start off by installing the bicycle rack into the hitch itself. As you cans see, the bicycle rack has actually two hitch pin holes. Basically you can use them to fine tune the length that you need for the rack to stay away from the rear of your vehicle. Next we will install the hitch pin and it does come with a bushing. Go ahead and install that. Then we will go ahead and install the lock and then we will go ahead and tighten the knob in the back for our anti-rattle device. Alright, lets go ahead and install a bike. Give you a better idea of how everything is loaded on here. We will go ahead and set our bike onto the first rail here. If you notice, the front wheel will go into the wheel well. We have our arm pulled out. Go ahead and pull it over the front wheel and push down onto the top of our front wheel. We will go ahead and move on to the back wheel where there is a simple clamp. We will just go ahead and run it through the wheel and cinch it down. And our bike is already secured within a matter of seconds. 2:02

Next we will go ahead and load up a kids size bike. And the Kuat NV does come with an adapter to accommodate the smaller tires as shown here. What this does is it clamps onto the existing holder on the bicycle rack. It is three simple screws that holds it in place. Everything works the same from there on out. Next we will go ahead and show you how the bike stand works. Basically, we will undo the clamp at the bottom, pull up the stand, clamp it down to the height you need and then we will take the actual clamp itself and rotate it in to the position we need it to do. And then we will go ahead and open up the clamp with the little hand crank. then we will go ahead and put our bike into place and tighten down the crank. And our bike is ready to be serviced on. Depending on how the cables are ran on your bike, you either A clamp it by the seat post or B onto the top tube, like we show here. And with that, that finishes the review of part number N101 from Kuat. And the NV is also available in an 1-1/4 inch version and that part number is N102. 3:22
