That's so very rude of you. I love her style, it's her very own and nobody can take that away from her. I have gotten some really great tips from her. I viewed your vids as well and well they suck!!!

Loved your video. So wonderful to see how you create, layer by layer. I am so new to art journaling and found your video very easy to understand. Thank you and I admire your work very much. Thank you!!! O:>) Renee

Thanks for making these videos! I'm new to art journaling and I've found them helpful. I can feel your spirit shining through your work!

I agree, but it is still good to go into it with even a tiny bit of a plan, especially if you are filming the process for others to see. Otherwise, besides it being a waste of materials, it is not much fun to watch. I mean, if I want to see aimless playing, I can watch a 2 year old, which would probably be more interesting.

i don't think you need to be so harsh. For me -i'm not samantha- art journaling is about the process of creating, letting yourself go and see what comes up. The point of what I do is not necessarily the finished product, and I *try* most of the time to let go of any 'shoulds'

also, if you are building up to get interesting texture/surfaces, you should try out some textured gesso - Liquitex makes a product called Clear Acrylic Gesso (sold at Micheals arts/crafts), gives awesome texture to paper. Golden makes the same type of thing, or you can get it in colors in a product called Colorfix by Art Spectrum. You paint it onto your surface (any surface) and then you can work on it in EVERY medium from pencil to oil paint.

I am an artist myself, work mostly in pastel which is all about layers. The point of layers is for the lower ones to still show through, to still have some life. If using paint to layer, u also want the lower layers to come thru - which is why the layers that are closer to the top should be much thinner, more like glazes, allowing lower layers to be seen. I think that this is your goal, but mediums like gesso and acrylic paints are too opaque for it to work effectively.

this just looks like a muddy overworked mess to be, and from the very beginning you just kept covering up everything you did. I don't get it.

I love watching you! You are such a joy and inspiration...always!
Peace & Love,

Hi! Cool videos! I was wondering how long it takes the gesso to dry? You seem to be working on it immediately, but the containers always say to wait 24 hours (talk about intimidating!)? How does that all work?

Yes, the container says 24 hours, but I never listen to it! If the layer's not sticky anymore, I'll start workin' on it...many of my gesso layers have finger prints from me trying to see if it's dry enough. ;)
