As an enthusiastic e-drummer (as well as acoustic), I'd like to share some takes with my e-drumkit. In this case some improvised things (drums only, so you can hear the sounds better). Soon you'll notice that I do not play one certain bar more than once...;-) As I say, I'm just 'doing things' and it's obviously it's not editted (all the garbage is there too....)

I hope it gets you an idea that playing with an edrum kit in combination with a sample library is not that boring

The set-up is a Roland TD-12 module, PD-120, 4 x PD100, CY-15R, 2 x CY-12R/C, VH-11. This connects to a TC-Electronic Konnekt Live to a Windows Vista 64 bit PC running a Reaper DAW. Within that I trigger the sounds of the great VST Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0 Sounds Library. More specific: the Hit Factory sound library.

Hope you enjoy it!

Watch my other vids. One is a play-along with Dave Weckl's Spur of the moment, and another one where I show you my setup (dutch comments).

BTW: Recorded audio within Reaper is the realtime audio track on this footage

  • I love TD - 12 !

  • orbs everywerar

  • nice playing man. I also have a Yamaha DTXtreme iii but will be looking to invest in SD2.0 as all the voices I've heard are really good. The Yamaha voices are decent and I've recorded with them, but they are not up to par with the SD2.0 stuff.

  • @Gairlochan I have a Yamaha DTXtreme iii kit which is comparable to the now DTX 950 you will find that Yamaha uses drum samples direct from their acoustin maple, oak, birch and beech kits so they are authentic wood sounding kits that sound excellent, I find that people with Roland kits spend alot of money on them and still need to connect to a drum software system!!

  • Thanks mate, that was great. I've got an acoustic kit which I no longer can play (noise/space problems), and I have Superior Drummer 2.x on my Mac Pro. I've been looking for a digital kit to connect up to SD/dfh to play it live. I like my rolls, as I see you do, so I'm looking towards the Roland line with its bouncy mesh pads, though if it weren't for that I'd go Yamaha for their USB/MIDI out convenience (with Roland I'll need a MIDI/USB adaptor, just one more thing to go wrong).

  • @uncleben03 yes, you have to route it to a computer that hosts Superior Drummer 2.0. You don't actually need a DAW to run Superior Drummer 2, you can use Toontrack Solo to act as host if your'e not in need of a full blown DAW.

  • I've been an acoustic drummer for 15 years, but want to get a e-drum set just like your TD-12. To get the sounds of the Superior Drummer 2.0, you have to run the triggers through a computer? You can't just load the Superior Drummer sounds on the TD-12 module? This is all brand new to me.

  • Sounds good! Can you share your Preset? I am having trouble with the V-11

  • sounds SO nice, thanks for the video man.

  • But wish their was a way to load ezdrummer into a module, even if it is just some basic sounds,Like a big ass sampler with outputs.
