MOUTHPIECESPORTS personality Meghan Brennan chats with Hall of Fame Cubs second baseman and current Tennessee Smokies manager Ryne Sandberg about if he's ready to take over as Cubs manager and who he thought was the better No. 23 in Chicago during the 80s and 90s.

  • This man will bring a title to Chicago. The inspiration factor can't lose. The Cubs have a few young stars (finally), and it's going to be interesting...

  • I heard Joe Morgan say Ryne doesn't belong in the Hall. What a dipshit. I watched Sandberg his whole career and saw him make maybe two throwing errors and one groundball boot. That's it. EVER

  • No way. I love Ryne, but he's already a politician. What a lame answer. Nothing "real" about it. Not what Chicago needs in any way, shape, or form. Or ANY baseball team, for that matter. Or LIFE. haha

  • so be there

  • hope the Marlins get him to be our manager!! come on Hawk, work your magic!!!!

  • @TheCubsfan38 That would be cool but there's a few problems with that scenario. For starters Sandberg wants to be manager not some kind of assistant coach and they have different styles of managing..Girardi is the kind of manager that would want a younger assistant that he can groom and mold after himself for a few years before he hands ove the reins so he can feel that in some way he still influences the team. He's not gonna manage for a few years and then sey Here you go Ryno, take over.

  • Joe Giradi manger in 2011. Ryno as bench coach or 3rd basemen coach

  • yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If the Cubs continue tanking this year, I think Lou is sent packing, and Ryno moves from Des Moines back to Chicago.

    Here's hoping!

  • i guess he isn't counting those few ab's he had with the Phillies in 1981 before he got traded to the Cubs. I was a Sandberg fan growing up, and would like to see him become the Cubs manager. I might start watching again.
