THIS IS ONE OF A SERIES OF ROUGH CLIPS COMPILED WHILE EVALUATING FOOTAGE. IT HAS NOT BEEN PROFESSIONALLY EDITED
Micky Correa was the first Indian bandleader at the Taj Mahal Hotel "The Taj" Mumbai. As
the resident band leader at the Taj Hotel for 21 years, from the 1940s through the 1960s, he is a living repository of the era of Big Bands inBombay.
Micky memories include sessions with the diaspora of American jazz men who were featured at the Taj. Micky is among the last of band leaders from that era and has the distinction of being the first Indian band-leader at the Taj. Men and women mentored and groomed in Mickey's swing and lounge
bands went on to lead bands of their own and/or arn handsome livings in Bollywood, including Chic
Chocolate, Johnny Baptiste, Lucille Pacheco, the Monsoratte's and others.
The trailer for the film has archival photos of Micky and his band at the Taj.
Micky Correa turned 96 in 2009 !!... would you believe it! And although he has not been able to
play his baritone sax in many years, he can still pound out a tune on his piano....
Thank you for uploading this great Jewel......

Hats of to the legend. It was indeed great to finally see who Mickey Correa is. thanks to youtube for this one. One of the artist's mentioned in the foot note " Lucille Pacheco " is my grand aunt. Was indeed nice to see her being remembered.
