You NEED a thermostat. Without a thermostat the CHE doesn't stop automatically. So while your sleeping, at school, at work or out, your pet is being fried and it WILL kill it.

@PortoGF We highly recommend a thermostat but that doesn't mean the CHE running on its own will get too hot. For example if you put a 100 watt into a 36 x 18 x 24"H enclosure it is not going to get too hot. Yet, with that being said a thermostat is always recommended for any heat source to provide the safety. We sell thousands of our BAH 1000 thermostats for this reason.

@yboben They won't last forever as nothing does but they do last up to 5 years.
