Giving myself a Gonal-F shot

URGENT!! One huge and costly mistake I made was releasing the plunger (the button at the top of the pen) prior to pulling out the needle - this caused the pen (syringe)to draw my blood back into the medicine reservoir which contaminated the drug and the pen was ruined - a very costly mistake! I was warned -DO NOT not let go of the button at the end of the pen until you remove it from your body. I was sure to not do that again!!

This video really helped me to overcome discomfort ... Anyway the first time took me a minute or two to give myself a shot. And as it didn't hurt at all, the second time I didnt hesitate more then 2 sec :) It can be compared with the mosquito bite.

Tive que fazer o procedimento para purgar duas vezes, inicialmente parecia que a caneta estava vazia, não parecia haver líquido nenhum, nem bolhas.
Tentei duas vezes o procedimento e depois deu.
I have to purge the pen twice (1st time), inicialy it seams that the pen was empty, we can´t see the liquid very well.
The first purge didn't drop the liquid, only in the second time.

Ufffff, não senti nada mesmo, apenas alguma coisa a encostar na pele. Acabei a rir, pois eu sou muito piegas e fiquei surpreendida, talvez amanhã tente sozinha.
Uffff, I didn't feel anything, only something touching the skin. Maybe tomorow I´ll try myself. Trust me, I can´t support pain very much and feel nothing

Obrigada!
It means "thank you" in portuguese.
I´m starting today
I took Gonal-F as well, the only difference is, I had to change the needle everyday, I wouldn't just replace the cup and re-use it everyday.

Zuzatko77: Not to sound snarky, but - duh. After 10 IVFs, I think I know to change the needle every single time I do an injection, and I'm pretty sure anyone with a brain watching my videos knows you must use a fresh needle each day.

I am starting Gonal-F very soon and am scared of shots. Does it hurt? Is it similar to a mosquito bite? I don't hae trouble with blood being taken, but injections scare me. Any advice would be appreciated!

I totally understand your aversion to these injections. My first cycle I had trouble doing just a Lupron shot. I held it in my hand and just couldn't do it...I felt like I was on the edge of a cliff, looking down, KNOWING this would cause me pain but I had no choice. The first is the worst, then you see that you CAN do it, you survived it, and it truly gets better each night afterwards.

...I've now done 6 medicated cycles with injections, and every once in awhile it will hurt/sting/feel like I got hit, but then it goes away.

...As for this med specifically, it's super easy to use in the pen, and I've never had any problems with pain from this. It's so scary and overwhelming at the beginning, but I promise you, you can do it and it doesn't hurt nearly as bad as you think. I hope I helped and GOOD LUCK!
