Dan Webb: HSV-7 "Spag-Worm" April Fool news story hoax

Melbourne station HSV-7's April Fool's Day joke, based on the BBC's legendary 1957 Panorama "Swiss spaghetti harvest" story.

The Australian version took the gag a bit further, describing how Victorian spaghetti farms were being devastated by a deadly foreign intruder - the Spag-Worm!!

Dan Webb was the perfect choice to front the piece - a highly respected serious news reporter, his presence gave it instant credibility.

Watch for the shot of Webb pulling the deadly worm from a piece of spaghetti! Priceless...

@scottalias - It's not supposed to "work' as a hoax, it's there to be viewed by interested parties, who will be searching on the term "April Fool". NOT putting 'April Fool" in the title means the people who want to see it won't be able to find it...

When I saw it on TV, I could not stop laughing.

For years I have discussed this April Fools Joke and could not convince anyone that it did happen.

On one occasion in the late 70's I was asked "how did the crop recover" 'did they catch the importer of the infected seed" ...what could I sayy ???

yes i do remember dan webb and video village very well it was a great game i used to watch it as often as i could i wish they could have game shows like video village on television these days .
