it's possible they simply weren't yet aware of this development in their field. Granted, it's their job, but asking a doctor to subscribe to every medical journal and pharmaceutical newsletter is a bit much.
That said, I understand your frustration and I hope you find the care you need.
im glad to see all the comments and suggestions here about RCE, im suffering with the same eye problem for almost a year...and the pain is really life altering.. i frequently consult doctors for eye checkups everytime an erosion episode occur, but noone ever suggest PTK, contact lenses, stromal puncture nor amoils rotary brush.. they keep prescribing me the same eyedrops and ointments and its making me angry... glad to have read ur comments im gonna ask about these treatments to another dr..tnx
@8MunchenBayern8 Unfortunately, no. I've learned to cope with it and my pain tolerance has gone real high. I had a PTK procedure done on both of my eyes, but too bad it didn't cure the condition. Another opthomalmologist advised that I get a "Diamond Burr" treatment done. I couldn't get myself to go through it again as going through PTK I'm sure was traumatizing for my eyes as it is. For many people PTK solves the problem, but in my case it did not.
@Fedora28 Glad the contact lenses helped you out. I am going to use them at night (since my eyes dry out then), which should solve the problem. The problem for me now is applying and removing the lenses from eye, since I am not used to the procedure.
I have had this problem for a few months now and I agree, its not only irritating but painful as well. They tend to happen when my eyes dry out out at night, particularly after a night of poor sleep. Although Muro 128 ointment and drops seem to help for a few months, they recur soon after. I am going to try using contact lenses at night time, since they occur most often at that time for me. This will protect the cornea from contact with the eyelid should your eyes dry out. Has anyone done this?
they got a bran new operation to fix RES i know this coz ive bein cured from that painful condition it works trust me iam the youngest to have it done not that painful and it cures it it takes 2 days for the pain to go away u only have to use antibiotice drops for 1 month then ur cured iam 14 and ive had it done iam in gazzets on monday 19th april and on youtube next month if u have RES i suggest u have a operation called alcohol delamination
I agree the pain is INSANE. I have a very severe case of corneal erosion attacks and man...i feel like stabbing my eye out at times. Hopefully there is a full cure for this

Don't do the PTK laser surgery! It made my my erosions more frequent and more painful. Have the stromal puncture done. It's working much better!!
