Hard to believe this has not been posted up for the world to enjoy. There has been many, many versions of the great Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage released. But this version simply stands as a legend on it's own. From their 1977 album titled Formerly of the Harlettes, Sharon Redd, Ula Hedwig, and Charlotte Crossley do a version of Maiden Voyage that is absolutly phenomenal. And that is Herbie Hancock himself on Fender Rhodes Piano.
The Harlettes, aka The Staggering Harlettes, is a trio of backup singers who support Bette Midler during her live musical performances. In 1977, three former Harlettes released an LP titled Sharon Redd, Ula Hedwig, Charlotte Crossley - Formerly Of The Harlettes with Columbia Records. This was the group's only album.
This is the kind of stuff the mid 1970s had to offer. Nice rendition of the Hancock classic!
