Statutory rape = rape. A thirty year old crime is no less important then one committed yesterday. Polanski is a coward. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence to aid in his conviction which is why he is on the run. And don't go basing your opinions on Americans based on stereotypes. Its ignorant. People can be self-righteous it is not just an American thing.

Hey, stop it, you're becoming self-righteous. A common thing with Americans, so I hear. As I understand it, you're innocent until proven guilty before a jury of your peers. The warrant was for statutory rape, not rape. You could at least try to be accurate. And isn't the case something like 30 years old at this point? Get over it, and yourself.

brilliant film, saw it bout 14 years ago and stuck in my mind ever since. great performances, tension throughout, polanski's a brilliant direcgtor, shame bout all the the tragedy and controversy, still his work is some of the best committed to film.
